Sixth Form student, Evie, attained her place at Keble College, to read English after achieving three A* grades and an A in her A levels and EPQ (English, Mathematics and Art). A third of sixth form students will pursue arts related subjects next term, which include Ruby studying Music at Southampton, Isabel achieving her Visual Arts and Film course at Durham, and Amy securing her first-choice university at Newcastle to study History and English.
Although it has been another year of uncertainty with cancelled exams, all of the Bournemouth school students have successfully achieved entry to their universities of choice, displaying a wide range of talents, interests and achievements: Amy is going to study Aeronautical Engineering at Southampton; Francesca will be reading Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London, and Anna will attend Bath Spa to study Criminology. Geography was also a popular choice for students Jess, Lottie and Harriet, who will be attending Bristol, Cardiff and Royal Holloway respectively. Also, tennis star, Abigail, will begin her university career in the US, at Campbell University, in North Carolina on a tennis scholarship, after securing her three A-Levels in Economics, Geography and Biology.
Head of Sixth Form, Anne Klemz said, ‘I am extremely proud of our Upper 6 and their outstanding results. Throughout this very challenging year, they have shown incredible grit and determination. These grades didn’t just happen: they are the result of hard work, perseverance and resilience. I wish them well in their next journey and look forward to hearing what the future holds for these amazing ladies.”
Mrs Holloway stated: ‘‘I am delighted to announce that our A-level students did exceptionally well this year, achieving fantastic results across the board and accessing their universities of choice. This morning was a truly joyful occasion, with staff, pupils, parents and chair of governors all celebrating their success and hard work in the Lily Pond Quad. It was very moving to see the quad full of laughter and smiles after such a challenging year. I always express my thanks to staff at this juncture for all their hard work and support, but this year staff have been exceptional, with regards to the time and effort that have gone into producing the Centre Assessed Grades, on top of all their other work, helping our pupils to realise their hopes and aspirations in such challenging circumstances, reminds us why we do the job that we do. And, as a mum, I can celebrate with my own daughter today, whom Talbot Heath has supported in realising her exciting university plans, after eleven years at the school.’
