A Level results set Downe House girls on course for very bright futures

The girls’ enthusiasm for learning, and commitment and dedication to their studies, has been rewarded and they are now set to take their place at some of the world’s leading universities and institutions.

Over 20% of Downe House girls are heading to Oxford, Cambridge and the top London universities to study a remarkable breadth of courses, including: Fine Art, Engineering, Music and English Language and Literature at Oxford; Natural Sciences at Cambridge; PPE and Biomedical Sciences at King’s College London; Chemistry with Molecular Physics and Maths at Imperial College London; Medicine at Queen Mary University London, and Robotics & AI, English, Global Humanitarian Studies and French and German at UCL.

As well as leading universities across the length and breadth of the UK, some students are heading to prestigious destinations across the world, including Angera BP who has secured a coveted place at Parsons USA, Clara DD who is heading off to study Dentistry at European University Cyprus, and Katie L who will study Medicine at the University of Hong Kong.

42% of Downe House students achieved 3 or more A*-A grades. Amongst them, 14 girls achieved an outstanding 4 or more A*-A grades, including Melinda L who achieved an astonishing A* A* A* A* A and is absolutely delighted to be taking her place to study Maths at Imperial College London from September. Also gaining A*, A*, A*, A* and heading to their first-choice universities are Katie L, studying Medicine at HKU, and Siying L, who will go on to study PPE at London School of Economics (LSE). Overall, 26% of all our girls’ grades are at A*, 63% are A*-A and 84% A*-B.

Downe House have a strong focus on preparing their students to be ‘world ready’, giving them the knowledge, and the skills and know-how to face their futures with confidence – and the Class of 2023 are now all set to do just that. The School congratulate each and every student on their results and wish them well as they take their next steps beyond Downe House and become part of the School’s global alumnae community.
