Kilgraston Schoolupcoming open day (click for details)
Set within 54 acres of Perthshire countryside, Kilgraston offers girls a sense of freedom that inspires them to excel, wherever their talents lie.
Kilgraston encourages leadership, confidence, independence, integrity and an ambition to achieve, and has something to inspire every young woman. Each year, some 96% of students’ Advanced Highers achieve A-C grades, easily placing the school amongst the best in the country. Intellectual values and personal ambition go hand in hand with a sense of social awareness, ensuring Kilgraston girls are well equipped for the modern world, whatever and wherever they want to be.
Right from the Prep school, Kilgraston girls benefit from specialist teachers who are passionate about their subject. Pupils develop a passion for science and technology in our brand new, state of the art Science Centre, where hands-on laboratory lessons and talks from visiting experts inspire even the youngest girls. Sport is popular, and modern facilities, such as a new swimming pool, a climbing wall, and Scotland’s only on-site school equestrian centre, ensures Kilgraston girls regularly perform at the highest national and international standards. A diverse programme of sporting opportunities means there is something for everyone. The arts, music and drama also thrive, and all girls are encouraged to participate.
Our boarding houses are the hub of co-curricular activities, and boarders and day girls alike enjoy a busy schedule that complements and enhances the more formal curriculum. With visits to Glasgow Science Centre and Edinburgh Botanic Gardens, skiing trips, white water rafting expeditions, social evenings with our partner boys’ schools, and excursions to the best of Scotland’s cultural highlights, life at Kilgraston is never dull!
Gifted & Talented
We have a Gifted and Talented register which is held centrally. Girls with specific talents or skills are identified and invited to join our Sports Academies, Maths Challenges and Enrichment Group. We have a programme of lectures, cultural events and exchanges designed to allow pupils to experience opportunities outwith their comfort zones.
There is a separate EAL department and a withdrawal system for pupils with SPLD – pupils attend Support for Learning lessons as part of their weekly timetable. The school has CReSTeD accreditation.
Bursaries & Scholarships
Support is offered through scholarship and means tested bursaries. Scholarships are awarded for academic, sporting or excellence in music and arts. Awards range from 5% – 25% of basic fees. Bursaries are means tested and dependent on circumstances, may be up to 100% of basic fees.
