Sherborne Girls is proud to be one of the leading full-boarding girls’ schools for all-round personal development and academic fulfilment.
We aim to send out into the world girls of character, commitment and compassion who think clearly and creatively, choose wisely and have the courage to make a difference.
Sherborne Girls is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 11 to 18. Founded in 1899, it has been at the forefront of girls’ education in Britain for over 100 years.
We offer a setting where academic focus is combined with the space to enjoy musical, creative, sporting and artistic pursuits, providing a wonderfully broad and enriching education that develops the unique talents of every girl within a caring and supportive environment.
Our close proximity and unique relationship with Sherborne School offers the best of both worlds, where the girls enjoy the benefits of single-sex education alongside a wealth of joint co-curricular opportunities and social normality.
With consistently outstanding results, excellent pastoral care and facilities which have been enhanced with a new £11m Arts Centre, parents can be assured that from the moment she joins us, their daughter is welcomed into a friendly, compassionate and caring full-boarding environment where her individual needs are nurtured and encouraged to ensure she fulfills her potential.
The school provides a rich environment for the development of well-educated, confident and caring young women who are committed to making significant and positive contributions to the world.
“A gem of a school, led by an inspiring, go-getting head. Sherborne Girls is better than ever, achieving fine academic standards and, through its partnership with Sherborne School, giving girls the best of both worlds – an all-girls’ education with a co-ed lifestyle. A sixth former told us ‘it’s a place of opportunity’ and it really is.” Good Schools Guide 2020

Bursaries & Scholarships
Sherborne Girls offers a number of scholarships, exhibitions and bursaries for girls entering the school at 11+, 13+ and 16+.
Scholarships are available in the categories of Academic, Art, Drama, Music and Sport. Those candidates who apply for two scholarship categories in addition to Academic will automatically be considered for an All-rounder Award, as well as the individual scholarships. Candidates will not be awarded more than one scholarship unless the circumstances are exceptional.
Through our full, transformational Candlelight Bursaries we aim to widen access and support girls for whom a boarding education can be life-changing. We partner with The Royal National Children’s SpringBoard Foundation (RNCSF) to identify girls who would really gain from our help.Find out more >
