St Augustine’s Priory is a leading all-through Catholic Independent Day School for girls aged 3-18 with boys in the Nursery. Our Nursery and Preps were rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and are one of the key entry points to the school.

In the Juniors, a team of outstanding teachers encourages and stretches the girls in all aspects of their education and development. A rich curriculum provides extensive opportunities for children to develop their individual talents and a range of workshops and educational visits enhance the girls’ learning.

Girls attain outstanding results in public examinations, in an environment in which they feel both challenged and supported. A focus on developing an individual love of learning equips girls with the personal attributes, intellectual skills and knowledge required for lifelong success.

The school has been Highly Commended in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2018 in the ‘Girls School of the Year’ and the ‘Green Award for Environmental Achievement’ categories. St Augustine’s Priory was also shortlisted in the national TES Awards 2019 in the ‘Whole School Community Initiative of the Year’.

The school was found to be fully compliant in the Regulatory Compliance Inspection Report (2017), with the report stating that ‘IGCSE performance in the same years [2014 – 2016] has been higher than worldwide norms’. St Augustine’s Priory’s recent Diocesan Inspection Report (2016) graded the school as ‘Outstanding’, the highest possible grade, in all categories across both Classroom Religious Education and The Catholic Life of the school. Inspectors observed “The sense of community, underpinned by Catholic tradition and practice provides a nurturing environment where pupils flourish academically and spiritually.” This echoes the particular mention in our ISI Inspection report (2013), of the outstanding personal, spiritual and moral development of our girls.

The 13 acres of grounds in which the school sits provide a physical freedom unique in the heart of London. There is a farm with pigs as well as sheep and chickens, an outdoor stage, a prayer garden, a meadow, a stewardship programme which involves care for the grounds and the students grow plants from seeds and care for the allotment. All utilise the natural setting, encouraging young learners to enjoy an emotional freedom to grow intellectually and spiritually, creating an atmosphere ideal for expanding young minds.

Bespoke indoor learning facilities are ideal for pupils’ development and they benefit from highly-trained, well qualified staff. The school’s ambitious capital development programme plans significant investment in further developing students’ facilities, to complement the existing full-size Astroturf and specialised Science Centre.

In 2018 a new 100% academic scholarship for the Sixth Form and a Modern Languages Scholarship offered at 14+ and 16+ were launched. The popular Art, Drama, Music and Sport for both 11+ and 16+ candidates remain an important attraction for girls who excel in these subjects, along with the Academic scholarships, available at 9+ and 11+.

St Augustine’s Priory was founded in 1634 and nearly 400 years later they continue to provide an education for young people, which is second to none. They relish the opportunities which this century has brought in terms of the possibilities which they pursue with enthusiasm.
