SAINT MARTIN’S GIRLS CELEBRATE GCSE SUCCESS!

22 August 2019

Elation and celebration were the order of the day as Saint Martin’s girls received the results they have been working so hard to achieve. This morning they picked up a fantastic set of GCSEs culminating in 100% of the students achieving 5 or more GCSE passes at grade 9-4. 32% of all results were at grade 9/8 (A*) and 52% were grade 9/8/7 (A*/A). Three quarters of this year’s marks were graded 9-6 (A*/A/B).

Following hot on the heels of last week’s excellent A-Level results, Saint Martin’s students have a great deal to celebrate. High achievers include Shuli Banerjee who has the best results in School 10 grade 9’s (A*) and an A at Additional Maths, along with Lydia Dicicco, Hannah Eames, Farah Khan and Sarah Sawyer, Tahiyah Zaman. Between them they have been awarded all grades 9,8 and 7’s (A*/A).

Head Mrs Nicola Smillie praised the girls for their self-motivation and commitment, which had helped to produce these outstanding achievements. “We are all so delighted for our girls”, she said. “These brilliant results are the just reward for all their hard work, and they also reflect the fantastic support of the girls’ own families, as well as the excellent teaching and pastoral care they have received at Saint Martin’s. Staff and students alike are to be congratulated for their dedication. It is very pleasing to see so many of the year group staying on at Saint Martin’s to gain the further benefit of first class teaching and small class sizes, ensuring that they will fulfil their potential.”

Mrs Rachael Speirs, Deputy Head and Ms Isobel Simmons, Head of Sixth Form commented: “The girls are to be warmly congratulated on their excellent results which are richly deserved. We look forward to welcoming them into the Sixth Form in a week’s time. We have every confidence in their ability to work hard and succeed as they embark on the next exciting stage of their academic journey.”
