Resilient students receive outstanding A Level grades

13 August 2020

The Marist School, Sunninghill, marks another year of outstanding A Level results with 55% of grades achieved at A*-A and 80% A*-B. 30% of students achieved straight A*-A grades.

Our growing, yet still personal Sixth Form, offers young women a wide range of subjects to study at A Level from Psychology and Business Studies to Government & Politics and Photography. Across the 24 subjects offered at A Level, all subjects performed exceptionally well with top results achieved in Maths and English Literature alongside 100% A*-A grades in Economics and 100% A-B grades in Philosophy & Ethics.

Exceptional grades were also achieved for the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) with 100% A*-A grades.

Mrs Jo Smith, Principal of The Marist School said,

“After such an unprecedented year, when the traditional rite of passage provided by examinations didn’t happen, our students were unsure of what to expect. Despite the circumstances, this year’s A Level results are once again outstanding, continuing The Marist’s tradition of excellence in progress and achievement.

Students have all worked so hard over the past two years to achieve their goals; even as we entered lockdown, the girls’ commitment to learning was excellent and their determination to succeed remained constant. During the latter part of the summer term, students participated in a University Bridging Programme linked to their degree choice in order to prepare them for university life.

This year’s Year 13 cohort are incredibly determined, committed and hardworking young women who are ready to move on to the next stage of their lives. They thoroughly deserve their outstanding grades and I am extremely proud of each and every one of them.”
