Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) and Bournemouth and Poole College were represented along with members of the Marine Conservation Society and Talbot Heath school link, Nicola Bayliss.
The project will culminate on Sunday 25th June, with a spectacular community sea conservation parade, with costumes, masks, and sea creature puppets. The parade will begin at 4pm at Boscombe Pier and will take place along the sea front where a beach clean is also planned.
Talbot Heath school are currently hosting the community mask and puppet making workshops on Tuesday evenings, in preparation for the event. Nicky Baylis, who is running the workshops, has been very impressed by the imaginations of those involved: “We have students from Talbot Heath School, Bournemouth and Poole College, as well as local artists and other members of the community. Their designs are fantastic. There are all sorts of giant sea creatures in the making, and everyone is sharing their ideas and working together brilliantly to bring their designs into fruition.”
Local schools and members of the community are invited to join the project and create sea creature costumes, parade puppets or masks, with a view to joining all the other fish, whales, turtles, mermaids and sea monsters. There will be a costume competition to be judged at the end of the parade, as well as a beach clean with Marine Conservation Society and lots of other sea conservation activities on the day.
This is a wonderful opportunity for the whole community to get together and celebrate our beautiful oceans, whilst raising money for the Marine Conservation Society.
